Minoan Ruins | Culture Seeker | Ierapetra | translation missing: en.cities.z_travel
Did we bring along Indiana Jone's bag by mistake? Rummaging through our backpack, we found instead of our swimsuit an array of shovels, brushes and a magnifying lens! But then it hit us: today we weren't going swimming but instead visiting the ancient site of Gournias, north of Ierapetra. Gournia, is the most characteristic of the excavated Minoan cities - when we arrived, we got to watch the archaeologists of INSTAP Study Center for East Crete in action! We secretly hoped they'd ask us for some help, but unfortunately the knowledge gained from watching Indiana Jones didn't quite cut it. Don't be too disappointed though; you can always get on the next boat to Mochlos, an island full of graves of rich Minoans where even more public excavations are taking place! Don't forget to bring your fedora!

P.S. You can also book a private tour of the workshops of INSTAP Study Center for East Crete, by applying here: www.instapstudycenter.net
